Too Many Mondays
June 2026
Last year, I began a tradition called Too Many Mondays. For any month afflicted with five Mondays, I would devote the fifth Monday to resharing some of my favorite stories and articles from the past month.
Here are a few stories that turned my head in June.
The Folklorist by Liz Zimmers
This serial by Liz Zimmers started back in March, but I missed it in the last roundup and didn’t start reading it until this month. Set in the fictional Blackfern County, the story follows a cast of characters in a small town where the quaint, superstitious ritual might be your only defense against the dark thing that prowls the banks of the Wicke.
Highly recommended for fans of Twin Peaks, especially if you wanted Twin Peaks to feel a little more like Pumpkinhead.
Sir, This Is A Tractor Supply Store by Vesper L. Rayne
This one was utterly ridiculous, but I loved every word of it. You would not believe the shit that goes down in Tractor Supply #412.
Welcome To The Vincent - Chapter 1 by K.Lynn Grey
Two chapters of a new light horror serial by K. Lynn Grey dropped this month. This one is set in a very haunted cul-de-sac where the newest haunted house dreams of being the biggest, scariest house on the block. The voice tends toward dark humor rather than stark terror, and the suburban setting is immediately familiar. Reminds me of a cross between The Haunting of Hill House and The Burbs (1989).
Things you don’t want to hear on a night shift by Mata Haggis-Burridge
A fun little micro horror with a creepy, crawly twist.
Everyone is Wrong About AI Except Me by Jason Pargin
Finally, this was my favorite essay of the month. You would think that all possible angles of the AI debate had been exhausted by Anno Domini MMXXVI, but there were a few takes in this one I hadn’t considered. If you’re still debating AI on the cost-benefit axis, you don’t understand the nature of the beast.

Thanks, J. Kyle! So happy to have you reading!
