Happy Monday! Here’s your weekly 100(ish)-word story.
Teeth
Michael stood on a footstool in the bathroom and leaned over the sink to count his teeth. When he ran out of numbers, he gave up and asked for help.
"Mom, what comes after a hundred?"
She answered - as always - from the other side of her computer. "You just start over at one and keep going."
Michael felt relieved. The early numbers were the ones he knew best. Buoyed with confidence, he went back to the bathroom and picked up where he left off.
In the end, he decided that he had only twenty seven teeth. Not a bad number for a child of six. But not the right number either.
After all, he'd started over twice.
