Micro Monday - June 1, 2026
The Saint
Happy Monday, everyone!
I scrolled back through my post history and realized I haven’t posted one of these since mid-March. I’ve written other stuff since then (he said, defensively) but between the April serial and the May hiatus, it’s been a while since I wrote a micro, which is strange because these are my bread and butter.
This one’s called The Saint, and I hope you enjoy it.

The Saint
Legally, Jose couldn’t come within a hundred feet of the shore, so he built his hut at the end of an abandoned pier and made his living selling fish.
The locals canonized him overnight. Women brought food and medicine and left with blessings for their babies. Men helped patch his hut after a storm. Kids who knocked on his door late at night caught hell for it.
Over time, the sheriff came to see Jose as a kindred spirit. He liked how his neighbors treated the old man, the way they took care of something that belonged to nobody, to everyone.
