Silent Night
“What if you want someone to pass the stuffing?” Sasha asked.
“You just sorta point and smile,” Michael said. “It’s awkward, but it works.”
Sasha read the invitation again. She’d never even heard of a Silent Dinner until she started dating Michael. “And your family does this every Christmas?”
“Every other Christmas,” Michael corrected.
“Election years, in other words.”
Michael grinned. “You got it.”
Sasha tried to imagine it: a Christmas dinner without political rants, drunken asides, or invasive questions. “I need to text my Mom,” she said suddenly.
“How come?”
“To tell her I’ll be home for New Year’s.”
