Resilience
Happy Monday, folks! Here’s a story to start your week.
Resilience
When the rainfall shatters all previous records, and the dam bursts and half the town gets swept away, and the rescue crews spend two weeks pulling bodies out of houses, and the mayor wails and gnashes their teeth at the candlelight vigil, and the chief safety officer commits suicide in their front yard, and we finally get a number for how many little kids died in the flood and the local newscaster stares into your living room and tells you that “even one is too many,” and we earmark funds for a beautiful memorial and come back to start the hard work of rebuilding, at some point we’re all going to sit down and ask ourselves: is Starbucks still doing its seasonal menu next month?
