I was doing yard work a few days ago when a Cooper’s hawk swooped in and grabbed a baby bunny from its hiding place beneath my porch.
Logically, bunnies are doing just fine in my neighborhood, and I also didn’t want to get my face clawed by a hawk - but I didn’t make a “logical” decision not to save the bunny. I just kinda stood there, indecisive, while the bunny made little panic noises. Then the clock ran out and the hawk flew away with it.
I think/hope the reason this story works is because indecision is a very realistic source of guilt (and also because I turned it up to 11 by burning teenagers to death) 😅
This gave me the chills.
